Death's Oath Occultist Gear, Jewels, and Flasks
SUMMARY – TL;DR
Cap your Elemental Resistances and get the attributes your gems require to make sure you can use them all. The only mandatory big item is the Death's Oath. Keep in mind that most unique items can be replaced with rare items till you can afford them!
My quick list recommended approach for this build would be:
Item Slot | Item Name/Mods | Rarity |
Head | Heretic's Veil | Unique |
Amulet | Impresence (Chaos) | Unique |
Chest | Death's Oath | Unique |
Gloves | Life then Res/Attributes as needed | Rare |
Boots | Life then Res/Attributes as needed | Rare |
Belt | Life then Res/Attributes as needed | Rare |
Rings | Life then Res/Attributes as needed | Rare |
Weapon | + level of gems Bow with DoT scaling modifiers | Rare |
ARMOUR PIECES
Many of the higher-budget examples can either be purchased or crafted. When crafting, I would strongly suggest utilizing Craft of Exile to determine the cheapest approach to crafting the desired items.
Since most items in this build are Rare, the main focus will be to have as much Life as possible and sort any attributes and resistances so we can reach the desired caps. However, there are some juicy choices one can take to increase the build’s efficiency, although they will come with a higher price tag.
Helmet
To run our curse setup auras, we’ll be utilizing the Heretic's Veil. If you are unable to afford this early on, simply skip the Blasphemy set-up via the helmet and run one manually or, in the worst-case scenario, self-cast one curse till you can get the helmet.
BODY ARMOUR
The core of the build comes from the Death's Oath so there are no alternatives.
GLOVES
Rare gloves with high Life are key here with resistances and attributes as needed. If you want to push for more damage you can look for a Hunter influenced item with the “Chaos Damage over time multiplier” modifier.
BOOTS
Since we are scaling a lot of our defence by making enemies not hit as hard as well as barely hitting us at all to begin with, we can use the unique boots Atziri's Step!
BELT
The belt comes with a variety of options.
For a lower budget version, you can use any belt, preferably a Stygian Vise due to the jewel slot, with high Life and attributes and/or resistances as needed.
The jewel you slot in here has to be an Abyss jewel. I would suggest making sure there is a Life roll on it and attributes and/or resistances as needed. Any damage modifiers should be chaos or damage over time-oriented to further scale your damage output.
ACCESSORIES
AMULET
To make sure we can have as many curses as possible we will use the Impresence (Chaos), which makes our Despair curse reserve 0 mana when combined with Blasphemy support. Depending on the price range of this item, you might want to run only one Blasphemy curse without this item and also without the helmet if these items are too expensive early on.
Anoint
The anoint you want is Hunter’s Gambit.
RINGS
Generic life rings with resistances and/or attributes as needed
WEAPON
Since we are using Caustic Arrow the best approach would be to get a bow with + level of socketed gems as well as chaos damage over time multiplier mod. For higher-budget, you’ll want to bench-craft the +2 level of socketed support gems and combine with an Empower.
Quiver
To help bolster life and resistances you can use a quiver with high Life, attributes and/or resistances as needed. For higher-budget, you can try to squeeze in a chaos damage over time multiplier for attacks. It’s important to note that this scales only your Caustic Arrow and not your Death’s Oath damage aura.
Unique Jewel
We have to use the unique ###item:conquerors-efficiency### to help minimize the mana reservations to be able to afford to cast the Caustic Arrow ability in the end game on a 6-Link.
FLASKS
Flask set-ups are almost always a matter of personal taste when it comes to what utility flasks to use. However, I will list the set-up I’ve been using for a smooth play experience. To find the available list of modifiers the flasks can have, check out these links: Utility Flasks, Life Flasks, Mana Flasks & lastly: Hybrid Flasks
Slot | Flask | Description |
1 | Divine Life Flask | Life flask, preferably with instant recovery & bleed removal |
2 | Eternal Life Flask | Helps you regenerate health and a great place for removal ofFreeze & Chill effects |
3 | Basalt Flask | helps mitigate incoming damage |
4 | Jade Flask | Scales our evasion rating to help dodge enemy attacks |
5 | Quicksilver Flask | Increases your movement speed |
