Crackling Lance Assassin Passive Skill Tree & Gem Links
Passive Skill Tree
We have made you a level 93 Path of Building. with 7000 Effective HP, loads of Dodge & Spell Dodge to keep your character alive. On top of that, it has over 1 Million damage per cast with a combined DPS of almost 4 Million on a fairly small budget setup. Should you not be familiar with Path of Building, we also have a PoePlanner

Progression Advice
Crackling Lance really scales best with gear. This is not accessible early on so you’re going to have to the most out of your Passive Skill Tree. Asides from a couple of Life nodes and the Phase Acrobatics Keystone, you’re going to be focusing on picking up a decent chunk of damage while leveling.
Here’s a level 80 Path of Building and a PoePlanner to give you an idea of how your tree should look like whenever you’re at about that level. This should carry you to the stages where you can afford some nice item upgrades!
Gem Links
Crackling Lance – Main Link (6-Link)
We decided to double dip on the Intensify Support as we expect you to be very potent with the Intensity Mechanic! It can’t be stated enough how important it is that you stand still and cast as much as possible on single target! Other than that we opted for the highest damage multipliers and a Lightning Penetration Support to maximize the build’s potential versus bosses.
- Crackling Lance
- Intensify Support
- Inspiration Support
- Power Charge On Critical Support
- Lightning Penetration Support
- Controlled Destruction Support
Auras
We decided to focus a little bit more on Damage for our Aura setup as you’re already fairly Evasive, Dodgy, and have a fairly decent chunk of effective health pool. Wrath & Zealotry are our choices here. They don’t have to be linked and it doesn’t matter whatsoever where they are socketed.
Lightning Exposure with Wave of Conviction
Since you don’t have a source of automating Wave of Conviction you’re linking it to a Spell Totem Support so you can drop it on a boss and not worry about it whatsoever. If you would rather handcast it, that’s also possible. Wave of Conviction makes the targets it hits have -25% Lightning Resistance which is a huge buff to damage!
Utility
For your Utility gems we opted for a Movement Skill setup and a Cast when Damage taken setup! Please note that you should respect the Cast when Damage taken levels! Make sure to not level your Arcane Surge Support over level 7 and Flame Dash occasionally before getting your stacks up to proc your Arcane Surge buff!
- Cast when Damage Taken Support (Level 5)
- Immortal Call (Level 5-7 – Depending on your Strength)
- Increased Duration Support (as high as Strength allows)
Optional More Damage Setup
As explained in our leveling section, there’s a unique interaction between Orb of Storms and Lightning Skills. If you want to bother with completely optimizing your build, you’re going to want to drop an Orb of Storms on the boss and stand in it while spamming your Crackling Lance. It’ll make you do at least 30-40% More Damage which is fairly significant. Do note though that with getting Arcane Surge Support up, and thus using Flame Dash, you’re going to be at 0 Intensity stacks so you’re going to have to be fast to drop the Orb of Storms and the Wave of Conviction totem and start spamming your Crackling Lance.
If you line all of this up correctly, you’re going to blast and demolish everything to bits and pieces in a matter of seconds though! Should you opt to use this Orb of Storms setup, here’s the links:
