TbXie's Poisonous Concoction Pathfinder Gear, Jewels & Flasks (PoE Trial of the Ancestors 3.22)
Summary – TL;DR
As per usual, nothing matters more than capping your Elemental Resistance before anything else. This means modifiers on gear are subordinate to Resistances as long as you’re not capped. Since you’ll be running a decent amount of Unique items, it’ll be important to look out for a lot of resistances on your Rare pieces! In this particular case however, you should be fine relying on a Flask Affix to get your Resistances sorted just because you’re Pathfinder and finding resistances is so god damn hard in this build.
We’re providing you with an extensive analysis further down the page but chose to start off with an overview / recommendation.

Armour Pieces
Helmet
Your helmet is a bit of a fringe case already in the gearing proces. First of all, you need to get a Base which as more armour than evasion, because of the mastery which then makes you immune to bleeding. Secondly, we suggest you’d have this on an enchanted base with Poisonous Concoction Area of Effect because this makes them overlap. You need a certain AoE threshold for the build to reach its maximum damage.
Once you’ve acquired this based, you’ll need to craft it with Deafening Essence of Loathing in order to obtain 10% MRE on the helmet which is necessary. This is quite a steep investment because you’ll want to hit Life & ideally a resist and an open suffix to craft Ailment Duration while Focused but since it enables you Aura’s, you should do this sooner rather than later.
Body Armour
The body armour slot also serves a mostly defensive purpose. You can either go for a Health chestpiece or a defences chest piece. In an ideal world, your chest has no health & you use the Life Mastery but usually that’s just too hard to actually obtain. Look for Suppression, Chaos Resistance & other resistances as well as an open prefix to craft Physical Damage taken as Fire/Lightning
Gloves
You want high attack speed, life, resistance and damage on your Gloves but luckily those are easy to make. Buy a pair of fractured Attack Speed (or Dot Multi) gloves and spam with a good essence (Chaos Resistance essences are always nice) until you hit a good 3rd suffix and high life. Finish of by crafting damage during Flask Effect.
Boots
Finally, a convenient slot. Grab a pair of Atziri's Steps and you’re golden. Ideally, you grab one with the Movement Speed if you’ve been hit recently enchant.
Belt
You probably need Strength in this slot, so a Heavy Belt is recommended. Lategame, a Hunter Belt with increased maximum Life on top of the already present Maximum Life & resistances.
Accessories
Amulet
The lategame amulet is a bit spicy to make as well. You’re going to need to create a 2 modifier item with Life & Malevolence has 60% increased Mana Reservation Efficiency. Afterwards you’re going to put on the “Can have 3 Crafted Modifiers” benchcraft and craft “Non-Channeling Skills have -8 to Total Mana Cost” & “11% Increased Area of Effect / 15% Increased Area Damage”. You need this Area of Effect to fulfil your radius requirement to hit maximum overlaps.
Anoint
You need to anoint Sovereignity in order to fit all your auras.
Rings
Lategame you would want Iolite Ring bases and spam them with Essences of Envy to guarantee increased Chaos Damage. Additionally, you need an open prefix to craft non-channeling skills have -8 to Total Mana Cost. Finally, you want to find Life, Resistances & Attributes.
Shield
This slot gets filled by Lycosidae. This means you don’t have to care about accuracy because your hits can no longer be evaded.
Flasks
I believe flasks are highly preference-based. One isn’t just outright better than another one for specific / certain builds. Obviously, sometimes, there’s a set in stone set of Flasks you should be using just because they synergize with your build so well. I wouldn’t say those really exist in this setup, but I’d strongly advise you to stick with the setup listed here.
Regardless of which utility Flasks you go for and whether you follow our recommendations or not, you’ll need to stick to the suffixes we have picked for you (Attack Speed, Curse Reduction etc). The affixes on your non-unique Flasks can be changed around, but I recommend the following setup (based on the Flask duration, charges, and affix priorities):
Our recommendation:
1 | Granite Flask of the Armadillo |
2 | Sulphur Flask of the Opossum |
3 | Silver Flask of Dove |
4 | Jade Flask of the Impala |
5 | Quicksilver Flask of the Cheetah |
The Cheetah affix should be swapped to a Catarina Benchcraft for Reduced Mana Costs once you swap to the late-game aura setup to reduce the cost of your Poisonous Concoction to 7.
Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique flasks.
Jewels
Regular Jewels
I would opt to get a life modifier on all of them. All of these also ideally have a “Increased Mana Reservation Efficiency of Skills” roll and an additional damage roll (Damage with Poison, DoT Multi, Chaos DoT Multi, …)
