Pohx's Righteous Fire Chieftain Gear & flasks (Poe Settlers of Kalguur)
Summary – TL;DR
Cap your Elemental Resistances & make sure to get lots of INT early. You’ll also need Dexterity but this comes later when you start using fire trap (Around Level 35) Most of your gear will just be life/res/life regen.
Note: Each piece ideally will want to be on the highest armour base you can get along with a high Life Roll. As we’re playing a Chieftain our goal is to stack Armour until we swap to Cloak of Flame (In the early game we do use Arm/Es to help with all of the blue skill gems we get).
Item Slot | Item Name | Rarity |
Head | Here we’ll be looking for an Armour helmet with Elder influence ilvl 82, Essence of Horror helmet modifier with Socketed Gems are Support by either level 16/18/20 Burning Damage OR Concentrated Effect (IF YOU HIT BOTH YOU GOT A GOD HELM) The level doesn’t matter in particular as long as you can get these modifiers. Beyond this, getting the + level to AoE gems craft will be huge for your Fire Trap. Alternatively, you can purchase Burning Damage & Concentrated effect helmets on trade. You can usually find these really cheap after the first week. For SSF players you can reforge Fire with Harvest. | Rare |
Amulet | A life amulet with a Damage Over Time Multiplier and resistances will do plenty when starting out. Getting +1 to level of all fire/spell gems is also great here if you’re using a rare. The base will be either Turquoise Amulet, Jade Amulet or Marble Amulet depending on whether you need the extra attributes or not (Note you might want to use a Lapis Amulet in the early game just for the extra int till you get to that part of the tree). | Rare |
Chest | Cloak of Flame is going to be our primary way of mitigating Physical Damage. Other alternatives are going with a Pure armour body. Lightning Coil can work but is much harder to fit in the build due to the resistance penalty (Don’t forget to use the 15% Maximum Life if no life modifiers are on body armor). | Unique |
Gloves | Again we want Pure Armour. This is one of THE Most important places to get a High % Life Regen roll. It can roll all the way up to 21%. Since gloves are our least likely gear to replace I’d recommend spending some currency on them. This is also a great place to get Dex or Chaos res along with +1 to socketed aoe gems and place our aura gems in our gloves for the bonus. Exarch Influence – Ignite Proliferation here will massively enhance your clear. | Rare |
Boots | Annihilation's Approach are my personal favorite, they really elevate how fast your character can move. They do have a big downside so make sure to pair it with Rational Doctrine, other options are Kikazaru to help with the sustain. Other options are going with 20%+ Movement speed boots with % Life Regeneration Rate & Chaos resistance. A nice premium is onslaught on kill. (Note: You really want to aim for at least 89% Maximum Resistance before trying to run Annihilation's Approach | Unique |
Belt | The highest source of FLAT Life regen which pairs extremely well with our Gloves. You’re looking for Life/Life regen & potentially res/chaos resistance. For uniques Immortal Flesh is honestly going to beat most rares due to the Armour bonus & MASSIVE Life regen. For the super late game, we can go with an elder crafted Stygian Vise. | Unique |
Rings | An easy source of Life & Resists, we can craft minimum frenzy charges for some free damage too. This is usually where I get most of my chaos resistance. Harvest Reforge chaos = Guaranteed chaos roll. Essence of Delirium a high end crafting option for players aiming for more damage. | Rare |
Weapon | Here we want High sources of Fire Damage Over Time Multiplier & Increase Fire Damage. For a more expensive weapon, we can look for + Fire Gems with Multi or High Increase and craft the missing stat. The 2 best modifiers to bench craft are Fire Multi & Fire damage & Ignite chance. | Rare |
Shield | Rise of the Phoenix & Dawnbreaker are fantastic (I prefer Dawnbreaker since max res is easy to get) but we’ll be switching to an armor based Shaper Shield with % Recover life on block. This should be an excellent form of recovery when you get surrounded. | Unique |
Armour Pieces
Helmet
For players who can’t afford an elder helmet yet, we’re going to be looking for a naturally unveiled helmet with +2 to put our fire trap here for extra damage. You can also just find a helmet with good suffixes (like res/life regen) and craft +1 Gems if you have unveiled it.
As soon as we have more currency we’ll be looking for a Rare helmet with Elder influence ilvl 82. Using Essence of Horror for “Socketed Gems Deal 30% more Elemental Damage” is key.
Getting the required off colors on an Armour base can be tricky. What I recommend you do here is bench craft 1 one Green socket and one Blue socket and then simply add and remove 3rd socket till you get your desired color.
Elder influence gives us access to Socketed Gems are Supported by level 16/18/20 Burning Damage & level 16/18/20 Concentrated effect. The level doesn’t matter in particular as long as you can get these modifiers. Beyond this, getting the + level to AoE gems craft will be huge for your Fire Trap.
Body Armour
For an early 6L I’d go with either a corrupted cheap chest or try to farm The Chains that Bind Divination Card for a Hybrid Arm/Es (For easy coloring). Our goal is to get high armour, Remember our goal is to swap to Cloak of Flame
Gloves
Pure Armour with a very high %Life Regen roll 15%+ Life & Resistance. This is also a great spot for +1 to socketed aura gems. Note: Use your Exarch embers to get Ignite Proliferation. This will be a massive boost to your clear & help your explode chain
Boots
Annihilation's Approach grant Addrenaline which is a massive buff to damage & Speed. However, an other option is going with 20%+ Movement speed boots with % Life Regeneration Rate & Chaos resistance. A nice premium is onslaught on kill.
Belt
Immortal Flesh or otherwise a leather belt or stygian vise with BIG flat life regen + Life roll. I also like to try to get Chaos Resistance & Armour here.
Jewels
The strongest notable for Large Cluster Jewels is Prismatic Heart. For additional AoE we go with Burning Bright.
The strongest node on Medium Clusters is Flow of Life. You can pair this with Fan the Flames if you don’t already have Ignite Proliferation. Otherwise any damage node other than Cremator works. Cremator can brick explode chains
For Jewels, I recommend Damage over time Multi or Fire Damage over time multi (stronger) & Life.
Since Jewels can get expensive consider these other variants with the following stats: Increased Damage, Area Damage, Burning Damage, Chaos Resistance, Dexterity or Fire Damage.
Accessories
Amulet
A life amulet with Damage Over Time Multiplier and resistances will do plenty when starting out. Getting +1 to level of all fire/spell gems is also great here if you’re using a rare. The base will be either Jade Amulet or Marble Amulet depending on whether you need the extra attributes or not (Note you might want to use a Lapis Amulet in the early game just for the extra int till you get to that part of the tree)
Rings
An easy source of Life & Resists, we can craft minimum frenzy charges for some free damage too. This is usually where I get most of my Chaos resistance. Harvest Reforge Chaos = Guarantee Chaos roll
Weapon
Here we want High sources of Fire Damage Over Time Multiplier & Increase Fire Damage. For a more expensive weapon, we can look for + Fire Gems with Multi or High Increase and craft the missing stat. The 2 best modifiers to bench craft are Fire Multi & Fire damage & Ignite chance.
Shield
Rise of the Phoenix & Dawnbreaker are Fantastic (I prefer Dawnbreaker since max res is easy to get) but we’ll be switching to an armor based Shaper Shield with % Recover life on block. This should be an excelent form of recovery when you get surrounded.
Flasks
Flask set-ups are almost always a matter of personal taste when it comes to what utility flasks to use. However, I will list the set-up I’ve been using for a smooth play experience. To find the available list of modifiers the flasks can have, check out these links: Utility Flasks, Life Flasks, Mana Flasks & lastly: Hybrid Flasks
All utility flasks can be automated with Instilling Orb and we want “Used when charges reach full”
Slot | Flask | Description |
1 | Divine Life Flask or Quartz Flask | Life flask, preferably with instant recovery, this can be switched out for a Quartz once we have roughly 1.8k positive regen |
2 | Granite Flask | Getting the “Gain X charges when you are hit by an enemy” prefix will allow us to easily sustain this flask permanently, the increased armour during flask effect suffix synergises well with it too |
3 | Amethyst Flask | The “Gain X charges when you are hit by an enemy” prefix here will be huge here too, the Catarina craft for some extra life regeneration during flask effect is great but not super necessary if you can’t get it immediately |
4 | Quicksilver Flask | Yet again, “Gain X charges when you are hit by an enemy” is king on the Prefix modifier, getting a movement speed suffix is great just to give yourself a bit more zoom zoom. |
5 | Ruby Flask | You’ve already guessed it, we want to Gain charges when hit by an enemy to make sure you keep up your maximum fire resistance. The suffix here is reduced effect of curses. Swapped out for Quartz or Sulphur flask once hitting 90% Maximum All Resisance |
