TbXie's Cast on Critical Strike Cyclone Ice Nova Gear, Jewels & Flasks (PoE Necropolis 3.24)
Summary – TL;DR
As per usual, nothing matters more than capping your Elemental Resistance before anything else. This means modifiers on gear are subordinate to Resistances as long as you’re not capped. Since you’ll be running a decent amount of Unique items, it’ll be important to look out for a lot of resistances on your Rare pieces!
We’re providing you with an extensive analysis further down the page but chose to start off with an overview / recommendation.

Armour Pieces
Helmet
Heatshiver is an absolutely bonkers helmet for almost any build that has any way of Freezing enemies. At the later stages of the build, Heatshiver accounts for over 30% of your total Damage. Getting one with an Ice Nova enchant is a plus, not a must, however, you can only compromise so much before you’re no longer Freezing Enemies for its full effect.
Body Armour
You’re using a d Doppelgänger Guise for the entire playthrough of the character. However, early on, before Cluster Jewels and great ailment crafts and whatnot, you’re most likely going to have to put it on “Insane mode” rather than using its “Sane” version to give you effective HP. Keep playing on insane until you cap out crit chance without it!
Gloves
Coming back to the plethora of reasons why Cast on Crit is usually expensive, these Gloves tick another box. Whilst 300% Critical Strike Multiplier isn’t the greatest, not having to care about finding sources of Crit Multi does help hence Maligaro's Virtuosity were picked. This also syngergizes well with our lack of crit nodes in the tree because most of our Critical Strike Chance comes from Brittle, which doesn’t help our Crit Multi stat whatsoever.
Because this item is super cheap, finding one with +1 to Frenzy charges, after you’ve gotten a source of Frenzies or maybe early on, one with Attack Crit to help you transition into Sane d Doppelgänger Guise faster might be cool!
Boots
Your boots are your most important item. You need both Eldritch implicits for the build to function. You pretty much also need the crafted Ailment modifier to get crit cap and you probably can’t get away with a pair of boots that has no Movement Speed, Life or Resistances. However, outside of this piece, you’re only running cheap uniques or fodder gear to start.
Belt
Lategame, as mentioned on the main page, you need 16% Cooldown Recovery from a Shaper belt. Additionally, you want Life, Resistances and preferably a Damage % craft from the crafting bench.
Accessories
Amulet
This is a pretty versatile slot. You should probably start of by filling out all your other slots and checking how much power you can pack here. Generally, you’ll be on the hunt for Strength & Dexterity whilst wanting Non-Damaging Ailment effect & +1 to level of Skills on your neck.
Anoint
The recommended anoint is Heart of Ice. Ash, Frost & Storm can help you cap crit chance and is super cheap early on.
Rings
Your rings are the sources of Accuracy. Now, generally you wont need much accuracy early on, but make sure to check PoB just to be sure. Additionally, these are places where you find Life & Resistances and finish them off with a Prefix Craft: Channeling Skills have -3 to Total Mana Cost.
Accuracy
In both lategame PoB’s, unless you’re running an Enlighten L4 and/or an Anomalous Precision, your precision wont be able to be high level enough to cap your Hit Chance. Therefore, you’re going to need about 450 Accuracy on gear somewhere. This can be found on a ring, an amulet or your Gloves and an Accuracy Roll (Flat or Percent) on a Jewel.
Weapon
Short section here, nothing more to say than get two Cospri’s Malices. There’s no way around it.
Flasks
Our recommendation:
| Slot | Flask | | 1 | Specialist’s Quicksilver Flask of the Kakapo| | 2 | Specialist’s Stibnite Flask of the Impala| | 3 | Specialist’s Diamond Flask of Incision| | 4 | Specialist’s Jade Flask of the Iguana| | 5 | Specialist’s Amethyst Flask of the Order| (Reduced Mana Cost of Skills)
The Reduced Mana cost can be crafted on the crafting bench after unveiling Flasks from Catarina. Buy this from someone else as once you have your maximum triggers from Awakened Cast on Crit, your mana will otherwise not be able to catch up
Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique flasks.
Jewels
Cluster Setup
In the lategame, you’re one Large Clusters & 2 Medium Clusters all focused towards capping crit chance through brittle.
On the Large Cluster Jewel, you want 1 Stormrider & 1 Inspired Oppression. The third notable is kind of free to be chosen but I prefer Widespread Destruction. This is also generally the cheapest option for third notables.
The Medium Cluster Jewels need exactly 1 Astonishing Affliction & 1 Inspired Oppression notable for maximum Ailment effect.
Rare Jewel
In the lategame, you want a 2-stat rare jewel which has the “Corrupted Blood cannot be inflicted on you” implicit because it’s so annoying to deal with that when you’re playing a build that hits 30+ times per second.
You will most likely also need jewels with some resistances. If you don’t, that’s nice. If you do, don’t be shy to grab resists on jewels. It’s not that much of an issue.
As per usual, you want Life on every single one of your jewels ideally combined with things like Area Damage, Damage, Cold Damage, Spell Damage, …
We do not want Critical Strike Multiplier modifiers as Maligaro's Virtuosity caps you at 300%.
