Crafting Guide: Elemental Hit Bow (Fire)
Introduction
This guide will take you through the process of crafting a bow for Ele Hit Deadeye builds that are pure fire. I have a guide on the build if you’re interested which you can find linked here: Vengeant Cascade Ele Hit Deadeye
If you’d prefer a video guide of this craft, you can check it out here:
Our Goal
Required Materials
- 100x Deafening Essence of Rage
- 3x Orb of Annulment
- 3x Exalted Orb
- 5x Divine Orb
- 8x Chaos Orb
- 1x Thicket Bow at least item level 64 (it would be a good idea to buy one of these 6-linked from the trade site before starting)
The estimated cost of this craft is about 10x Divine Orb. Bear in mind that this cost can be higher or lower depending on your luck and depending on the fluctuating cost of the crafting materials
Step 1: The Prefixes
Our goal for the prefixes is:- Damage Penetrates 15-16% Fire Resistance (Deafening Essence of Rage)
- +1 Level of Socketed Gems
- +2 Level of Socketed Bow Gems
In order to get our prefixes, we will need to make use of Essences of Rage. These provide Damage Penetrates #% Fire Resistance. We can use Deafening Essences of Rage for 15-16%, or Screaming Essences of Rage for 13-14%, depending on what you can afford.
Getting the +2 Bow Gems
Keep using your Essences of Rage until you see the modifier +2 to Level of Socketed Bow Gems. We have about a 1 in 40 chance of seeing this modifier
Once you hit the modifier, you may need to free up both a prefix and a suffix. The item we’re looking for looks something like this, and has both an open prefix and at least one open suffix:
This step can be slightly frustrating, as you may end up with an item without an open prefix and an open suffix. Unfortunately, in this instance, you will need to use one of your Orbs of Annulment to remove a modifier or two.
If you fail and remove either the Fire Penetration modifier, or the +2 Socketed Bow Gems modifier, start again until you succeed at having a bow with the two modifiers we’re looking for, and an open prefix and open suffix
Note: This step can be made easier if you start with a bow with a fractured +1 to Level of Socketed Gems, or fractured +2 to Level of Socketed Bow Gems
Forcing +1 Gems
Now that you have an open prefix and open suffix on the bow along with the two desired modifiers, we are going to use the crafting bench to craft on Cannot Roll Attack Modifiers.
This bench craft can be found in the unique map Caer Blaidd, Wolfpack’s Den and costs 1x Divine Orb to craft on your item.
Your item should look something like this.
Next, we are going to use an Exalted Orb. If your item has full suffixes and an open prefix, with the bench craft Cannot Roll Attack Modifiers on the item, we are 100% guaranteed to slam on +1 to Level of Socketed Gems;
this is because this is the only prefix modifier without the Attack tag.
This is how your bow should look now.
Step 2: The Suffixes
The next thing we need to do is complete the item by finishing the suffixes. If you were lucky during the first two steps and hit a high tier of Attack Speed, or Bow Attacks Fire an Additional Arrows, you can bench craft on a final modifier and be done.
However, it’s unlikely that you were that lucky, so let’s look at how to finish this bow safely.
Cleaning up the Suffixes
We need to clean up our suffixes. In order to do this, we’re going to use the crafting bench to craft on Prefixes Cannot be Changed – this craft costs 2x Divine Orb and can be found in the unique map The Coward’s Trial
Next, use an Orb of Scouring on the item. Don’t worry! Our prefixes are safe and this will only remove the suffixes!
Your item should look something like this now
Multimod
Finally, we are going to multimod the item to finish it off. This is the most cost-effective method of getting two desired modifiers on the item. The term “multimod” refers to the bench craft “Can Have Up to 3 Crafted Modifiers”.
This bench craft costs 2x Divine Orb and can be found in the unique map The Putrid Cloister.
Here is our bow, ready to be multimodded!
One of the two final modifiers that we choose to craft on the item needs to be Attack Speed. We want to use the 11-13% increased attack speed, which costs 1x Exalted Orb.
If you aren’t sure where to locate this craft, you can scroll down on your crafting bench, find that modifier (it will be greyed out) and hover over it to find its location.
The final modifier is up to you. If you are playing a crit-based version of the build, it’s likely that you want Increased Critical Strike Chance or Critical Strike Multiplier.
In my video, I opt for a Chance to Deal Double Damage While Focused craft. Because my build isn’t crit-based, this is a good option. However, this bench craft requires an extra button in order to gain its benefits, so I instead recommend the
flat 8-10% chance to deal Double Damage Craft.
And there’s our finished bow! This should be a major damage upgrade if you were using a basic +3 bow previously. Hopefully everything went smoothly and you didn’t fail too many Annuls along the way.
Stay safe!
