TbXie's Poison Seismic Trap Saboteur Gear, Jewels & Flasks (PoE Trial of the Ancestors 3.22)
Summary – TL;DR
As per usual, nothing matters more than capping your Elemental Resistance before anything else. This means modifiers on gear are subordinate to Resistances as long as you’re not capped. Since you’ll be running a decent amount of Unique items, it’ll be important to look out for a lot of resistances on your Rare pieces!
We’re providing you with an extensive analysis further down the page but chose to start off with an overview / recommendation.

Gearing Tips
- First of all, make sure you maintain a reasonable amount of Energy Shield to make sure you can keep casting. This means you’re going to need to find some Energy Shield on gear. This is usually solved by running a Hybrid Evasion/Energy Shield Shield base which should set you up comfortably to never run out of Energy Shield to cast.
- Capping suppression is obviously super strong and even the slightest undercap will be very impactful.
- A Ming’s Heart is a huge upgrade for your damage. Pair it with an Unset Ring to make sure you have enough sockets for your skills.
- Don’t forget that Eldritch Implicits on Gear can be cheap by using the cheaper currency and are very impactful to the strength of the build.
- Try to Cap your Chaos Resistance – The build is very lenient on suffixes so this shouldn’t be to hard.
- In endgame 1 skill point can be saved by getting 30 intellect on a gear piece.
Armour Pieces
Helmet
In the endgame, this slot is uncontestable. You’ll be needing a The Devouring Diadem to make sure you have sufficient mana both for our aura’s and your Seismic Trap’s mana costs.
The Path of Building has plenty of steps beforehand to explain what do to before you acquire a Diadem.
Body Armour
The body armour slot is the first opportunity to fill out a bit of your Spell Supression chance. You’re going to be needing to achieve 100% Spell Suppression Chance in the end and a body armour is very suitable to find a high roll. Additionally, you either go for Life & a Life & Mana Craft from the crafting bench or you forego Life completely on the chestpiece and stack a ton of Armour and Evasion and make use of the Life Mastery in the passive tree which grants you a bunch of Life if you have no modifiers on your chest piece.
Gloves
The Gloves are not much different. Generally, I’d try to get a lot of resistances here with some spell suppression. If need be, you can use a lower Life roll here.
Boots
Boots are generally not much different from Gloves in this build besides the fact that you’re obviously going to be wanting Movement Speed on them. Again, suppression until cap and resistances until cap. Ideally also chaos res in the 60’s is very comfortable while progressing the game.
Belt
At the very end game, you’re going to be on the lookout for a Stygian Vise. However, because you do want some specific affixes, this is one of your last upgrades. Earlier on, replace it with a Leather Belt. You’re looking for quite a bit of resistances here, paired with the essence mod “Trap & Mine throwing Speed”. Ideally, you want the belt to have a ton of Life & an open affix to craft “Regernate 150 Energy Shield per Second while a Rare or Unique Enemy is Nearby”. This modifier is what keeps you casting versus bosses / rares.
Accessories
Amulet
Your endgame amulet, or well, midgame amulet as it could be a lot better than what the guide has, is a +1 Physical Skill Gems necklace with some life & Damage over time Multiplier. You ideally want some resistances or attributes on the necklace too so you don’t have to put too much pressure on the rest of your gear.
Anoint
Because of the amount of Auras we’re trying to use, you’re going to be anointing Sovereignity lategame.
Rings
Your first ring is a Ming's Heart. Grab a high roll one, because they’re cheap anyhow, and catalyse it with Phys & Chaos catalysts to amplify its Physical Damage gained as Chaos. Note: Ming’s Heart does lower your health, so it’s not something you want to wear while you’re starting maps and are not rescapped & have like 2K total Life
Your second ring needs to be an Unset Ring becuase of socket pressure. Ideally, this is crafted with Essences to grab 15% Damage over Time Multiplier. However, make sure you grab enough Life & Resistances to cap & feel comfortable. This is more important than damage.
Weapon
Cold Iron Point is the dagger of choosing. It is just incredibly hard to beat and therefore suits as a slot & forget item. Get this early, as it’s about 30% of your overall damage.
Shield
Your shield is going to be a generic Evasion/Energy shield base with enough Suppression to cap you alongside Life and Resistances as you see fit. If you can afford it, the bench offers you a Physical as Extra Chaos Damage craft which is incredibly potent to scale your damage.
Flasks
Our recommendation:
Slot | Flask |
1 | Granite Flask of the Armadillo |
2 | Jade Flask of the Impala |
3 | Silver Flask of the Curlew |
4 | Quicksilver Flask of the Lynx |
5 | Bubbling Eternal Life Flask of the Assuaging |
Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique flasks.
Jewels
I would opt to get a life modifier on all of them. Other than that, generic damage over time multiplier, chaos damage over time multiplier and so forth are all great ways to scale your damage.
Note: You can find Attributes and/or Resistances on these too and you wont need the damage really. So use the slots as you see fit.
