GhazzyTV's Holy Relic Guardian Gear Progression (PoE Settlers of Kalguur)
Introduction
While the PoB shows you what gear we believe belongs in which budget, it might still be a bit unclear in what order we think you should prioritize what.
On this page, we will do our best to explain what we prioritize when, and why. With that out of the way, let’s dig into the gear progression.
Campaign
During the campaign with this build, you will for the most part pick up items that have the links and colours you desire and hit them with an Orb of Alchemy or an Essence with an appropriate function to make them rare. You will be hoping for a resistance when doing this, and should you end up having an open suffix on the item the crafting bench will let you add on a second resistance roll or an attribute roll, depending on your current needs.
Keeping your resistances as high as possible, ensuring you have the attribute rolls and getting some life modifiers is all you need to worry about at this stage. Do keep in mind that resistances are not very important in the first couple of acts but becomes extremely crucial for your survival around Act 5 and forward and reaching the cap (75%) is preferable for all 3 elements at this point. If you’re struggling with gear to reach this you can always replace any of your offensive aura(s) for a Purity of Elements to help solve this potential problem.
Low Budget
We are going to make the assumption that you have kept your resistances capped going into this budget, and will be working with that assumption. If you do not have capped resistances when hitting maps, you need to get that sorted as soon as possible. Any attributes you might need to keep leveling your gems and/or equip gear will also need to be sorted either via gear or by deviating slightly from the skill-tree by picking up any needed “+30 attribute” nodes on the tree. Gear wise, pieces such as a Heavy Belt and/or Jade Amulet are great pieces to solve attribute issues.
Early gear
The first thing we acquire in this build is Geofri's Crest. This gives us +1 relic, which is integral to the functionality of the build. It also comes with 4 resistance rolls. This is a perfect first item for us.
Second we want to get a 6-Link. We recommend a 5 or 6L Corrupted rare of any ES or Armor variety or Hybrid ES/Armor variety. Using a mere Tabula Rasa is always an option but a corrupted 6-Link will provide other stats for you as well, just make sure you grab one with the correctly colored sockets!
A Dialla's Malefaction is the ideal chest for the build, but we’re skipping it for now due to price. If you can afford one, get one. If not we’ll be getting one in medium.
After this you’ll get yourself the unique Triad Grip which in this build we want to color 3 green sockets and 1 red socket, you do this by making the item have at least 2 sockets then bench-craft 2 green sockets. After this you’ll use the bench-crafter to make the item have 2 sockets then 3 sockets then back to 2 sockets if the third didn’t turn green! Rinse repeat that process till you have 3 green, then you do the same with 3 & 4 socket crafts via the bench-crafter as this is vastly cheaper compared to buying a 3G1R Triad Grip or trying to color it with Chromatic Orb.
Next up we grab some amulet and rings with resistance rolls and dexterity rolls on them. The exact stats on those does not matter all that much, you just want a little bit more than you need and then move on with your life as all of these items will be replaced in time. Do not spend a lot of currency on these.
It is finally time to prioritize our old friend Darkness Enthroned. Minion builds like Ghastly Eye Jewel and this build is no exception.
Getting a very well-rolled belt, especially early on, is extremely expensive and not advised. Get a roll of 50-75% or so, and look to upgrade the belt later. The values above that simply aren’t worth their price early on, we can spend our currency better elsewhere.
Jewels
The main modifier is to make sure that literally, every, single, jewel you have slotted has a Life modifier increasing your health. Outside of that you can go for a variety of different damage modifiers ranging from “Minions Deal X – Y Additional Physical (or Cold) Damage” as any of them will work fine, physical is the better one but can cost a bit more. The second damage mod to consider would be “Minions deal #% increased damage when you’ve used a minion skill recently”.
Shield
We’ll be getting a minion shield of some kind. It has to be a base with the minion stat implicit to be able to run minion modifiers.
Ideally this shield should have:
+1 to level of all minion skill gems
Minions deal increased minion damage
Maximum life
Minion Crit
Some resistance
Chance to block
This is probably asking too much for early on, just make sure you get the +1 to level of minion skills and 2-3 of the other modifiers.
Minions have increased elemental resistances is an option
The rest
A rare amulet & Rings purpose is to help solve your attributes and/or resistances with these pieces!
Make sure the rings are 1x Unset Ring and 1x Bone Ring.
The Bone Ring will have to carry the mod “minions have #% to all Elemental Resistances”. Preferably of 20%.
Concluding low budget
If you have not already, it is high time that you sort your flasks. Get flasks with the modifiers that correspond with the guide as best you can. Moving forward you’ll also want to give yourself Chaos Resistances when possible to help build your defenses higher.
Medium Budget
The first, and most important, purchase to make in the medium budget will be Dialla's Malefaction. We want to make sure this chest has 2red socket and 4 green sockets.
The two red sockets are for Empower Support and Enhance Support.
The four green sockets are for Summon Holy Relic and the remaining supports.
Next up we’ll be picking up a Replica Dragonfang's Flight with +3 levels of holy relic gems. This provides us with a massive damage boost and some reservation efficiency.
This could prove expensive if the build becomes popular if it does get a generic +1 all amulet or something instead temporarily. Just make sure you balance your attributes in such a manner that you can fit the replica later.
We then proceed to get a 12-point minion cluster. As Summon Holy Relic of Conviction does not benefit from attack speed, we get a cluster with 35% effect and life.
That’s all the cluster needs to have. If you get a suffix for resistance of any kind that is very nice.
FInally we get a 100% Darkness Enthroned.
If this is entirely out of price range, you can look for bargain options at 95-99 or the like. But I would recommend getting a 100%.
If you haven’t already fixed your flasks, fix your flasks!
You likely have a lot of power locked behind bad flasks, fix that!
High Budget
The high-budget changes are mostly bells and whistles.
We pick up 3x Grand Spectrum of the minion crit multiplier- variant, these scale our minion’s critical strike damage values massively.
A small cluster jewel to get Enduring Composure notable will in this budget get you your Endurance Charges to increase your defensive capabilities.
Should you want to go all in, you craft the bigger budget sword.
We upgrade all our ghastly eye jewels to have both flat values and recently values, if we have not already done so. Make sure you do not drop the life roll!
Finally, we pick up a Bottled Faith and make all of our flasks flagellant prefixes with high-tier suffixes
